The college started in 1991, over a period of 18 academic years has grown to a strength of 1450 students in 2008 from the humble number of 27 students in 1991. The college, affiliated to University of Madras, was started with five Under Graduate courses in the field of Science, Management and Commerce. At present the college offers 10 Under Graduate Programmes & 8 Post Graduate Programmes .The sincere endeavor of the management and faculty members has contributed to the spectacular growth of the institution. In these 18 years, the college has become one of the premium institution and a major player in the Indian Women's education.
